A Note about Worship at Zion

This is a service of Word and Sacrament, Bible and Eucharist. In Holy Communion, Christ feeds us with his own body and blood. We welcome all baptized Christians who know that Jesus the Lord is present in his body and his blood to receive Holy Communion. Children not yet communing and those persons not yet baptized are invited to come forward to receive a blessing. If you have questions about Baptism or Communion or the Lutheran tradition, you are invited to speak with our pastors.

At the Saturday service, Holy Communion is administered by intinction. The bread will be received on the tongue after it has been dipped for you in the wine.

At the Sunday services, Holy Communion is administered with bread received in the hand. You may receive the wine by drinking from the common chalice by grasping the base of the chalice and guiding it to your lips (the Assisting Minister will administer this chalice), or you may receive the wine using an individual cup (these chalices will be administered by Communion Assistants). As you receive the Lord’s Body and Blood it is ppropriate for you to say “Amen.”

The worship folder you receive from an usher and hymnals in the pew are all you need to fully participate in the service. (The green hymnal is called Lutheran Book of Worship. The blue hymnal is called With One Voice.)
