Be A Secret Greeter!

Purpose:

  • Be alert for visitors, guests, persons you don’t know when you attend worship services and parish events.
  • Greet these folks with the three magic words: “Have we met?”
  • Cheerfully provide information about the location of rest rooms, the nursery, times of services, etc.
  • Encourage visitors at worship to sign the pew pads.
  • Be sure first time visitors are offered one of our gift mugs.
  • Introduce your new acquaintances to other members and to one of the pastors, if appropriate.

Skills, interests desired: Anyone—male or female, young or old— can be a secret greeter if you enjoy meeting and greeting people with a smile. Some knowledge of the church building, service times, etc. is useful. A love of Zion, it’s worship and it’s ministry is essential!

Time required: Two to five minutes—before worship, during sharing of the Peace, after the service.

Training: Practice your smile and using the three magic words the next time you come to worship or a parish event!
